My Values

I believe that everyone is naturally creative and that creation and art surround us. Our own existence is a creative energy and the potential for expression exists within us. Every sound we make is a creative expression, every movement is our own dance and anything that we create is our own sacred art. In my sessions I like to use the imagination and play to facilitate the healing.

My Background

I grew up on Vancouver Island surrounded by vibrant natural beauty. I spent many days soaking in the quiet by the local rivers and by the ocean side. I find that this calm connection to the earth is something that shapes me to the core and I share a sense of calm and grounded connection with my clients. With my passion of the sacred connection to ourselves and to mother nature and it’s healing energy, I’ll also be offering retreats and nature focused expressive arts therapy workshops and sessions as an option for clients.

My background and training before the Expressive Arts Therapy Certificate program at Langara College are in Music and Movement.

I have had a lifetime journey and relationship with music through my classical training in singing through choir, opera and piano to the more spontaneous ways of singing in rock bands, performing as a jazz singer and working as a busker and performing artist in Gastown and on Granville Island.

Some of my journey with movement also began in the classical realm with ballet, jazz and tap having transitioned to other forms of unique movement like wrestling and contact dance. I have continued my exploration and evolution with movement in recent years through forms like capoeira, tango, salsa, blues fusion, rock climbing, and sea kayaking.

Originally, I was interested in music therapy, but when I discovered Expressive Arts Therapy I fell in love with the multi-faceted harmony and dialogue of the arts, movement, drama, writing, music and voice and all forms of expression. I hope that we can work together in a session soon.
